Veterans Administration Medical Center

Architectural programming, planning and design services were provided for interior renovations and new construction at Louis Stokes Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center – Wade Park Campus. The objective was to integrate relocated services to consolidate services from another local VA facility.

The overall concept plan proposes developing a new public “main street” to clearly define way-finding for patients and visitors arriving from either the main entrances drop-off area or through connections to the existing VAMC facility to the new CARES Tower. The main street also serves as the organizing element defining boundaries to the various Administrative, Diagnostic, Clinical and Support zones with clear separation of circulation for both public/patient and support/back-of-house materials.

The proposed renovations will achieve a fresh image and a cohesive public space with simple clear way-finding for all occupants as well as reorganize and appropriately configure similar program components into zones that promote efficiency, flexibility and collaboration.
