CLEVELAND, OH; April 22, 2011 -- BrooAlexa Design Joint Venture, an 8(a) and HUBZone company, announced today that it was selected by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to receive the 2011 DHS Small Business Achievement Award for its outstanding work in support of the DHS mission.
With offices in West Virginia and Ohio, BrooAlexa Design Joint Venture provides architectural design, interior design and engineering services for new construction and renovation projects. The joint venture is comprised of BrooAlexa LLC and Perspectus Architecture.
BrooAlexa Design’s executives accepted the award at the 7th annual DHS Small Business Ceremony on April 20 at the General Service Administration offices in Washington, D.C. In particular, BrooAlexa Design was recognized for work performed for United States Customs and Border Protection, Procurement Directorate in Fiscal Year 2010. The notable project is the Dormitory and Conference Center at the Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, which includes 252 extended stay rooms and a 6,160 square-foot conference center. Border protection guards will room here while being trained in the recently opened, adjacent Leadership Academy. The project is targeted for LEED Gold certification.

The BrooAlexa Design executive team consists of: Frances Brooks, chief executive officer; Gene Brooks, Jr., president; and Larry Fischer, AIA, ACHA, design principal.
