After opening a new medical office building in 2008, Southwest General Health Center determined a free-standing Emergency Department would be an appropriate complement to the services offered at the facility as well as an asset to this growing Cleveland suburb.

As the architect for the original building, Perspectus Architecture was familiar with the site planning, allowing for quick exploration of a program and multiple options for locations on site. The result was a one-story, 8,000 square-foot addition at the back of the building with easy access to an ambulatory drop-off canopy and a separate ambulance canopy and entry.

During the study, it was determined that the site could also support a helipad and an 8,000 square-foot second floor expansion for medical offices. The project totaled 16,000 square feet.
