Perspectus Architecture has been nationally honored as an integral team member of the joint venture BrooAlexa Design Joint Venture. The joint venture was recognized by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with the 2011 DHS Small Business Achievement Award for its outstanding work in support of the DHS mission. With offices in West Virginia and Ohio, BrooAlexa Design Joint Venture provides architectural design, interior design and engineering services for new construction and renovation projects. The joint venture is comprised of BrooAlexa LLC, a multifaceted 8(a) and HUBZone company specializing in construction, manufacturing and masonry work, and Perspectus Architecture. BrooAlexa Design executives accepted the award at the 7th annual DHS Small Business Ceremony on April 20 at the General Service Administration offices in Washington, D.C. In particular, BrooAlexa Design was recognized for work performed for United States Customs and Border Protection, Procurement Directorate in Fiscal Year 2010. The notable project is the Dormitory and Conference Center at the Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, which includes 252 extended stay rooms and a 6,160 square-foot conference center. The project is targeted for LEED Gold certification. BrooAlexa Design is one of only 16 companies nationally to receive this award.

Larry Fischer AIA and Bill Ayars AIA, co-founding principals of Perspectus Architecture, were recognized in June 2010 as Finalists of Ernst & Young’s 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Northeast Ohio in the Professional Services and Banking category. Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year is the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. Recognized globally, the award honors the most outstanding entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.

As a three-time Weatherhead 100 winner, Perspectus Architecture ranked 9th out of 100 in 2008, 21 out of 100 in 2009, and 29th out of 100 in 2010. Due to its ranking in the top 10, Perspectus was featured in a full-page article about the company’s success. Presented by Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), the Weatherhead 100 identifies the region’s 100 fastest growing companies based on sales growth for the past five years. The award has been a leading honor given to Northeast Ohio businesses since 1987.

The TODAY SHOW featured Dr. Mauricio Arruda, a leading electro-physiologist and Director of the University Hospitals Heart & Vascular Institute in Cleveland, performing a live cardiac ablation procedure using a Stereotaxis system during its broadcast. Perspectus Architecture designed the Stereotaxis Suite on behalf of University Hospitals. Perspectus principal Mike Lipowski AIA, LEED AP served as the lead architect.

The magazine profiles the Marymount Health Care Systems’ Continuum Center in Garfield Heights, Ohio, designed by William Ayars AIA, NCARB, architect and principal of Perspectus Architecture. The 65,500 square-foot Continuum Center enhances and complements services through the addition of dementia and skilled nursing programs to the campus’ existing independent living and nursing.
